RENDEZVOUS – THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL FOR COUPLES

My wife and I own and manage two travel agencies and we would like to encourage couples to do what we just did. Spend a week at Rendezvous in St. Lucia, where the two-mile golden sand beach is never crowded, the cuisine is outstanding, and the liquid refreshments are top shelf. It may be a little difficult to fly there, but this resort will pay off big time for your relationship.

Located on a former coconut estate two miles from the capital city of Castries, Rendezvous is an hour and 15 minute taxi ride from the UVF airport in the south. NOTE: For a much faster, spectacular arrival, you might consider using the St. Lucia Helicopter service to fly to SLU Airport in the north, adjacent to the resort. It will give you a scenic overview of the island as well as start your vacation off on a high note (no pun intended).

Arrival
We were greeted warmly by Lawrence and our wonderful ambassador Essie, and escorted to the Lounge for a private registration, welcome drink and a cold towel.

Accommodations
There are 98 newly refurbished rooms and suites with ocean and garden views, with natural-hued furnishings, AC, and a private terrace/balcony.
Our Beach Front Cottage #149 was unbelievably convenient to everything – beach, both restaurants, pool with swim-up bar, and the lobby. It had quality soft goods and a great mattress. We had a modern bath area with a jetted tub. NOTE: There is complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout but only one TV on the property

Staff and Service
It is the wonderful staff and their willingness to serve that impressed us most!
In fact, the saying, “What can we do for you?” was all we heard during the week and it was absolutely true. The respect this staff and administration have for the guests and each other is amazing.

Dining
Dining at Rendezvous was excellent. There are two dining options. The open-air Terrace Restaurant provides an international buffet breakfast and lunch as well as an ala carte menu for dinner. We prefer air conditioning so we dined most nights at The Trysting Place, their elegant, fine dining restaurant.

Getting dinner reservations was not a problem. The resort also offers complimentary dining exchange at their nearby sister resort, The BodyHoliday LeSPORT.

Activities
Every imaginable resort amenity is offered – tennis, fitness center, and a snorkeling and PADI SCUBA program. You can also take a cycling tour, play beach volleyball, wind surf, water ski, sail and kayak. They even offer a weekly golf clinic with a Pro.

There are many excursions available. We loved working through The Tour Store in Rodney Bay. This company offers outstanding “Lucian Style” soft adventure experiences including: Segway, ATV, helicopter, horseback riding, and zip lining. They also do water tours around the island and trips to the Grenadines and Martinique as well.

Whatever you do outside of the resort, don’t miss the nearby Rain Forest Sky Rides for eco-adventure or the hip/funky Friday Night Jump-up in Gros Islet. There are great water excursions for whale-watching and deep sea fishing. Visit Castries, the island’s biggest town, just 10 minutes away, for value shopping at the local Craft Market. Try hiking the majestic twin peaks of the Pitons or a rejuvenating soak in the pools of the Sulphur Springs as well as the drive-through, active volcano in the south.

Conclusion
This was one of the most relaxing, upscale weeks we have ever experienced. NOTE: We hope that the government will improve their roads and that air lift will become more affordable and available. If you love the Caribbean, you need to experience St. Lucia and stay at Rendezvous. You will have a fabulous vacation there.
